Single-Phase and Three-Phase Wiring

    1. Single-Phase Wiring
      • Uses one Phase (L) and one Neutral (N).
      • Commonly used for lights, fans, and small appliances.
    2. Three-Phase Wiring
      • Uses three phases: R, Y, and B.
      • Commonly used for motors and heavy electrical loads.
    3. Phase Voltage
      • Voltage between Phase and Neutral.
      • Typical value: around 230 V.
    4. Line Voltage
      • Voltage between two phases.
      • Typical three-phase value: around 400–415 V.
    5. Motor Voltage
      • The motor should be connected according to its nameplate/rated voltage.
      • Motor voltage depends on the Star (Y) or Delta (Δ) connection.
    6. Star (Y) Connection
      • One end of each of the three windings is connected together.
      • Commonly used for motor starting to reduce starting current.
    7. Delta (Δ) Connection
      • The three windings are connected in a closed loop.
      • The motor must be operated according to its rated/nameplate voltage.
