118 June 2026Today started with breakfast, and after that I went to the Asmita Department for my practical session. We began the day by learning how to insert elastic into the cap fabric. Tai first explained why elastic is used and how it helps the fabric fit properly while giving a neat gathered effect. She demonstrated the complete process step by step and showed us how to stretch the elastic evenly while stitching so that the gathers remain uniform. She also explained the common mistakes beginners make, such as pulling the elastic too much or too little, and shared useful tips to achieve a clean and professional finish. I carefully observed every step and understood the importance of accuracy and patience while working with elastic. After completing this demonstration, Tai introduced us to the correct method of stitching a Katori blouse. She explained how to join the katori pieces properly, maintain the correct seam allowance, and stitch the curved portions neatly without creating wrinkles. She also showed us how proper stitching gives the blouse a better shape and fitting. Tai demonstrated each step on the sewing machine and explained different techniques to achieve a smooth finish. I listened carefully, took notes, and observed the demonstration closely because these techniques are essential for making a well-fitted blouse. After the teaching session, I continued working on my own blouse. I completed the remaining stitching carefully and checked every part to ensure the seams were straight and neatly finished. I took my time to inspect the blouse from every angle and corrected small mistakes wherever needed. After lunch, I completed the final work on the blouse and made sure it was ready with a clean finish. Tai also checked our work and gave valuable suggestions for improving our stitching quality and overall presentation. By the end of the day, I was happy to complete my blouse successfully. Along with finishing my practical work, I also learned two important sewing techniques—attaching elastic to cap fabric and the proper method of stitching a Katori blouse. Today’s class was full of practical learning and helped me improve both my sewing skills and confidence in garment construction.
