Today was another productive and practical learning day. The main focus of today’s session was blouse cutting and garment construction. Every new activity helped me understand the process of designing and making garments in a better way.
I learned how to cut a 4-tucks blouse on a blouse piece. Tai explained the measurements, markings, and cutting process carefully. It was interesting to see how the design that we had previously learned on paper is actually transferred onto fabric. I learned the importance of accuracy while marking and cutting, as even small mistakes can affect the final fitting of the blouse. I carefully observed each step and tried to understand the purpose of every marking made on the fabric.
After completing the markings, we continued with the cutting of the blouse piece. This practical activity helped me understand the different parts of a blouse and how each section is cut according to the required measurements. Working directly on fabric gave me more confidence and improved my understanding of garment construction. It also helped me realize how much patience, precision, and attention to detail are needed in fashion designing.
During the session, I got the opportunity to observe how proper cutting forms the foundation of a well-fitted garment. This experience was very valuable because it connected the theoretical knowledge I had learned earlier with practical application. Seeing the blouse take shape from a simple piece of fabric was both exciting and motivating.
Later, we attended the computer lab session. I continued my Alison online course, where I learned more concepts related to skill development and professional growth. The course helped me gain additional knowledge and encouraged me to keep learning new skills through online platforms.
Along with the course, I also watched several fashion-related videos. These videos introduced me to different fashion trends, design ideas, garment styles, and techniques used in the fashion industry. I learned about how designers create unique collections and how fashion trends change over time. Watching these videos gave me new ideas and inspired me to think more creatively about fashion design.
The computer lab session was very useful because it allowed me to combine technology with fashion education. It showed me how online resources can help me learn beyond the classroom and stay updated with the latest developments in the fashion industry.
Overall, today was a day full of practical learning, creativity, and skill development. From cutting a 4-tucks blouse on fabric to learning through the Alison course and exploring fashion-related videos, every activity contributed to my growth as a fashion design student. I gained valuable knowledge, improved my practical skills, and felt motivated to continue learning and improving. I look forward to applying these new skills in future projects and discovering even more about the exciting world of fashion designing.
