Today, we learned the basic concepts of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems. In a single-phase supply, the voltage is generally around 230V in India. We also learned that a three-phase supply is not simply 230V × 3 = 690V. In a typical three-phase system, 230V is the phase-to-neutral voltage, while the voltage between any two phases is approximately 400V. This is because the three phases are separated by 120°, so their voltages do not add directly.

We also learned about industrial electrical wiring and how different electrical components are used for safe and reliable operation. The practical session included checking electrical cables, MCBs, fuses, relays, and other wiring components. We observed their construction, connections, and basic functions.

This session helped us understand the difference between single-phase and three-phase systems and gave us practical knowledge of industrial wiring. We also learned that proper selection and checking of electrical components is important for electrical safety, protection, and efficient operation.
